Benijófar is a compact, green municipality in the Vega Baja del Segura (Southern Costa Blanca). It is strategically located between Rojales and Guardamar del Segura and is known for its pleasant village life, many international residents, and a surprisingly beautiful park (Parque Cañada Marsá). It is therefore an excellent base for homeowners seeking tranquility while being within 10 minutes of the sea.

  • Beach (Guardamar del Segura): Approximately 10 km by car; about 7 km as the crow flies. There are also buses via Rojales.
  • Alicante–Elche Airport (ALC): Approximately 36 km via the AP7/N332 (about 35 min).
  • City trips: Alicante (44 km, about 40 min. via the N332), Elche (33 km, about 26 min. via the AP7), Torrevieja (12.5 km, 15 min. via the CV905).

Useful to know: right next to Benijófar lies Benimar, where you’ll find many restaurants and some shops. Benimar is located between Rojales and Benijófar and is the place where King’s Day is extensively celebrated annually. On that day, all of Benimar turns orange.

Benijófar is small-scale and village-like, with a mix of some Spanish residents and many international, permanent or temporary, residents. You’ll find many British, Dutch, and Belgian people there. According to recent estimates, the municipality has about 3,500 inhabitants on 4.36 km² – small in size, but lively and pleasant all year round.

The pride of Benijófar is Parque Cañada Marsá: a surprisingly large green park with walking paths, a large pond, and many ducks. The park is ideal for a morning walk or picnic; it is located directly adjacent to Benimar. During the Christmas period, a cozy Christmas market is organized with stalls and music.

Every Tuesday there is a market at the Recinto Ferial with fresh vegetables & fruit, cheese, and clothing, among other things.

  • Benijofar has quiet residential areas and there are many amenities in the immediate vicinity.
  • It is close to the sea (about 10 minutes) but doesn’t have the enormous crowds and parking problems of the coastal towns.
  • Alicante airport is about 40 minutes drive away.
  • The Southern Costa Blanca is a popular region and due to the many amenities (restaurants, shops, golf) and short distance to the coast, there is a lot of interest in holiday homes.

  • Healthcare: there is a general practitioner, dentist, and pharmacy nearby, and in Torrevieja you’ll find an excellent hospital.
  • Transport: for groceries and a bite or drink, everything is easily accessible by (electric) bicycle. If you want to explore the area, a car is very convenient, although there are also affordable bus connections to Guardamar del Segura and Alicante, among others.
